Financial Assistant
THE OPPORTUNITY
Henry Carus + Associates is a leading Melbourne personal injury law firm with a reputation for five-star client care and a genuinely supportive team culture. We’re looking for a detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our Finance and TPD team.
In this hands-on role you’ll keep the financial engine running — managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank accounts, and supporting our legal teams with billing and disbursement reporting. If you’re building a career in finance and want real variety, real responsibility, and a team that’s genuinely in your corner, this is the role for you.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and on time.
- Verify and enter Trust and Business account deposits; process Trust-to-Business payments.
- Prepare lump sum client bills, disbursement lists, and cost outstanding reports.
- Reconcile company bank accounts monthly and assist with GST and EOFY reporting.
- Liaise with the firm’s costing company and support cost consultants with required information.
- Maintain financial records and the Accounts Payable Manual.
- Provide general administrative support to the wider team as required.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Year 12 or equivalent; an accounting or business qualification is a plus — not a must.
- Solid Microsoft Excel and Word skills; experience with accounting software is an advantage.
- High attention to detail and comfort working with numbers day-to-day.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, can-do attitude.
- Discretion when handling confidential client and financial information.
WHY HC+A?
🤝 People-first culture
A close-knit team where you’re valued as a person, not a headcount.

Exposure to a busy legal finance environment with room to grow your skills.
📋 Structured onboarding
Buddy system and comprehensive induction so you hit the ground running.
⚖️ Meaningful work
Support a firm that genuinely fights for people when they need it most.
