The Opportunity

We are seeking a high-calibre Practice Director to serve as the senior executive leader of our firm. As the Principal’s trusted second-in-command, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, operational execution, and commercial performance of the business.

Your mission is to run the firm effectively, allowing the Principal to focus on long-term stewardship, high-level strategy, and professional mentoring. You will translate strategic intent into clear priorities, robust systems, and measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

• Executive Leadership: Drive the firm’s overall performance across legal delivery, operations, and people, acting as the primary day-to-day decision-maker.
• Strategy Execution: Lead annual and quarterly planning, identifying growth opportunities and ensuring the firm remains scalable and efficient.
• Financial & Commercial Management: Own operational financial performance, including budgets, cash flow, WIP, and profitability.
• Operations & Systems: Oversee practice management, technology, and risk compliance, driving continuous improvement in all workflows.
• People & Culture: Lead and develop the management team, embedding a high-performance, values-aligned culture and overseeing recruitment and retention.
• Client Experience: Ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for every client while overseeing marketing and business development execution.

Skills & Experience

• Proven Leadership: Extensive senior executive experience within professional services (legal sector highly preferred).
• Commercial Acumen: Strong capability in financial management, budgeting, and driving business profitability.
• Operational Excellence: Expert-level competence in systems, process improvement, and implementing accountability frameworks.
• Founder-Led Expertise: Demonstrated experience scaling or stabilising a founder-led business is an advantage.
• Interpersonal Impact: The ability to lead, mentor, and hold senior professionals accountable while maintaining a professional culture.

Qualifications

We value diverse backgrounds and broad experience. The following are viewed favourably but are not mandatory:

• A Bachelor of Business (Management or Finance major preferred).
• Relevant postgraduate qualifications.
