Lei was injured in a motor vehicle accident when she was walking to pick her son up from school. Crossing on a green pedestrian light she was hit by a driver who failed to give way because she was distracted. The high speed impact caused a nasty injury to Lei’s neck. Following consultations with two different surgeons and attempts at conservative treatment Lei decided not to undergo major surgery to fuse her spine, hoping that her symptoms might be able to improve with time. Despite her optimism her injury failed to really improve and she was unable to assist with her husband’s business and struggled to raise her two young children. Between the physical injury and mental strain of dealing the changes to her life, Lei found that she was really struggling.
